The Ultimate Headlight Restoration Service in Lincoln, NE
Bring clarity back to your headlights for better visibility and a cleaner, newer-looking car.
Do your headlights have that foggy, hazy look?
Noticing reduced visibility at night or when it’s raining? You’re not alone. The good news is—you don’t have to replace them or take apart the lens (a common misconception).
In most cases, the haze is on the outside, and our headlight restoration service can safely remove it—giving you clearer headlights, improved visibility, and a fresher look without breaking the bank.

“Ahmed’s attention to detail was fantastic, our vehicle not only looked like brand new but smelled amazing! In addition to his stellar work, he even managed to accommodate us on short notice. We were so appreciative and will definitely be back - highly recommend!”

The Ultimate Headlight Restoration Process
At MC Auto Detailing, we use a refined, hands-on approach to restore cloudy, yellowed headlights back to clear, like-new condition. This is a detailed restoration process using premium products, including a professional-grade ceramic coating for long-lasting clarity and protection.
Oxidation Remover Treatment
1
We start by applying an oxidation remover to clean the surface and lift built-up dirt, grime, and surface haze.
Wet Sanding - 2000 Grit
2
The first sanding pass begins the restoration by removing the oxidized layer and smoothing the lens surface.
Wet Sanding - 3000 Grit
3
A finer sanding step refines the headlight even further, setting the stage for a crystal-clear finish.
4
Inspection
We closely inspect both headlights to ensure the sanding is consistent and even across the lens.
Water Test
5
We wet the headlights from top to bottom to simulate the final appearance under the ceramic coating—giving you a preview of the finished result.
Ceramic Coating Application
6
Finally, we apply a high-quality ceramic coating using a precision wipe-on method. This locks in clarity, repels UV damage, and resists future oxidation.
Dry And Cure
7.
After about 30 minutes of curing, your headlights are fully restored and ready to hit the road—clear, bright, and protected.
By wet sanding your headlights, we’re carefully removing the failed, oxidized outer layer that causes the yellow, hazy appearance. Once the surface is smooth and evenly prepped, we apply a professional ceramic coating to restore clarity, enhance shine, and protect the headlights for up to one year, no polishing needed. This process leaves your headlights looking clear, sharp, and like new.

Headlight Restoration FAQ
Do you come to me?
We’re a shop-based detailing business located right in the heart of downtown Lincoln on O Street. All headlight restoration services are performed in-shop, and we do not offer mobile services at the moment. We recommend Headlight restoration to be paired with another service like our Hand Wash N Wax.
How long does this service take?
On average, our headlight restoration takes about 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the condition.
Can you restore any headlights?
While our process can significantly improve most headlights, there are rare cases where the damage is too deep or permanent. We’ll always do our best to restore clarity and improve visibility, but we’ll let you know ahead of time what to expect.
Why do headlights get foggy or yellow?
Headlights are coated with a layer of clear protection just like your car’s paint. Over time—especially with direct sun exposure—the clear coat begins to break down and oxidize. That’s what leads to the cloudy, yellow look you’re seeing.
How do I keep my headlights looking good after restoration?
The ceramic coating we apply helps protect against UV damage and future oxidation. To extend the life of your restoration, try to park in shaded areas when possible and avoid harsh cleaners. Our ceramic coating offers long-lasting results, but parking habits and sun exposure still play a role in longevity.
